The scale does not start at zero — the values lie in a narrow range, and starting from zero the bars would be indistinguishable. The axis ticks are labeled.

The number of electric passenger cars sold over the year, per International Energy Agency data. The concept covers both fully electric cars and hybrids that can be charged from the grid; ordinary hybrids without charging are left out. The growth of this series is among the fastest in the whole of the statistics: over ten years sales have risen roughly a hundredfold, and more than half of the world total is China.
Important: The IEA tracks about sixty of the largest markets, which together account for nearly the entire world total. In the remaining countries sales are not zero but are negligibly small, so aggregates are computed at a lowered coverage threshold.
What share of the cars sold over the year are electric.
Vehicles 2010–2025 Electric car stockHow many electric cars there are on the country's roads in total — a cumulative stock, not sales for the year.
Vehicles 2010–2025 Non-electric car salesHow many gasoline and diesel cars were sold — a series that has been falling in recent years.
Mining 1995–2024 Lithium productionHow much lithium is mined in the world. Eight countries account for all of the output.
