An independent energy think tank that brings the world's electricity statistics into one comparable database: generation by source, demand, installed capacity, net imports, power sector emissions and the carbon intensity of a kilowatt-hour for 214 territories from 2000 onward. The underlying data are taken from grid operators and national statistical offices — ENTSO-E, the EIA, Eurostat, national agencies — then brought to common definitions and updated more often than annual yearbooks: a preliminary estimate for the year just ended appears as early as spring.
Generation by source, demand, access
How much electricity a country generates in a year.
2000–2025 Electricity demandHow much electricity is consumed in a country in a year.
2000–2025 Electricity consumption per capitaHow much electricity there is per resident of a country each year.
2000–2025 Solar share of electricityWhat share of its electricity a country gets from solar plants.
2000–2025 Wind share of electricityWhat share of its electricity a country gets from wind farms.
2000–2025 Solar electricity generationHow much electricity a country's solar plants deliver in a year.
2000–2025 Wind electricity generationHow much electricity a country's wind farms deliver in a year.
2000–2025 Renewables share of electricityWhat share of electricity comes from all renewable sources, hydro included.
2000–2025 Clean electricity shareWhat share of its electricity a country gets from sources without emissions — renewables and nuclear.
2000–2025 Fossil fuel share of electricityWhat share of its electricity a country gets from coal, gas and oil together.
2000–2025 Carbon intensity of electricityHow much carbon dioxide there is per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated.
2000–2025 Net electricity importsHow much electricity a country buys from its neighbors beyond what it sells.

Data is loaded automatically through the source's official API and updated on a schedule. Values are not altered: indicators are published exactly as the source provides them.
