About the indicator

The index of the physical volume of crop production relative to the 2014–2016 average. It is the third of the FAO indexes alongside the food and the livestock ones, and it differs from the food index in counting non-food crops: coffee, tea, tobacco, cotton, rubber. That is why the two indexes diverge noticeably in countries with large exports of industrial crops.

Important: It includes non-food crops, unlike the food production index. The aggregate for country groups is weighted by agricultural value added, not by population.
