About the indicator

Container port traffic of a country in twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) per year: loading, unloading and transshipment. A transit container is counted twice when it is transshipped — once on unloading and once on loading — so for hubs like Singapore the indicator runs several times higher than the country's own foreign trade.
