About the indicator

The share of the population with access to electricity — both through centralized grids and through off-grid and mini-grid solutions. The target of UN Sustainable Development Goal 7.1 is universal access by 2030. Having a connection does not mean that supply is reliable: in a number of countries with formal coverage of 100% outages happen daily.
