About the indicator

The share of children aged 12–23 months who have been vaccinated against measles. Measles is more contagious than almost any other infection, and its threshold of herd immunity is higher than the rest — about 95% — so a fall in coverage by a few points brings outbreaks back to countries where the disease was considered beaten. This series shows how coverage sagged in 2020–2021 and where it has not recovered since.

Important: The first dose. Reliable protection requires two, and coverage of the second dose is lower; the World Bank has no separate series for it.
