About the indicator

School test results brought by the World Bank to a single scale: a score of 300 corresponds to minimal attainment, 625 to advanced attainment. The point of the harmonization is that countries take part in different international assessments — PISA, TIMSS, regional ones — and their results are not directly comparable. The indicator answers a question that enrollment does not ask: what children have learned during the years they spent in school.

Important: The estimates are released once every few years and rest on the latest assessment available for a country, so the years differ from country to country. The gap between enrollment and results is wide: enrollment can be universal while results stand at the level of three years of schooling.
