Applications to register an industrial design filed in a country by nonresidents, counted by the number of designs. Designs that reach an office through the Hague System for international registration are included here as well. The indicator reads the same way as nonresident applications for trademarks and patents: it is about the value of the market, not about the country's own design. High values come from large consumer markets and from countries that are the source of copies — registration of a design there is what gives grounds for a ban.

Important: The designs within applications are counted. The series includes filings through the Hague System, so for member countries it is noticeably higher than the number of applications filed directly.
