About the indicator

The age-standardized suicide mortality rate per 100,000 people, as estimated by WHO. Standardization makes it possible to compare countries with different age structures. Differences between countries are also strongly affected by the completeness of death cause registration: where such cases are recorded as “injuries of undetermined intent”, the indicator is understated.

Important: The subject is a sensitive one: the data are given solely as WHO medical statistics.
