About the indicator

The number of hosted refugees per 100,000 people of the population of the host country. The indicator converts absolute numbers into a measure of load: by number of refugees the top rows belong to large countries, while by this rate they belong to small states that took in an exodus from a neighboring country, where the newcomers are comparable in number to the local population.

Important: A measure of load rather than of generosity: a high value speaks more often of geographic proximity to a conflict zone than of resettlement policy.
