About the indicator

The volume of official development assistance provided by a country, from the data of the OECD Development Assistance Committee. About thirty states give aid, so most countries in the table have no values: that is not a gap but the absence of the phenomenon. In absolute terms the list is led by the largest economies, but the commitment agreed at the UN is set as a share of national income — 0.7% — and by that measure the Nordic countries come out in front.

Important: Official development assistance does not include military aid or commercial loans at market rates. The OECD data cover the donors of the Development Assistance Committee, so aid from countries outside it is not fully accounted for.
