An estimate of how much the cumulative CO2 emissions of a country have contributed to the observed rise in the mean temperature of the planet, in degrees Celsius. This is the most direct answer to the question of who warmed the planet by how much: the calculation converts emissions into a temperature change through a climate model, bypassing intermediate quantities such as concentration. Contributions are additive — the sum over all countries is the warming caused by carbon dioxide.
Important: From CO2 only: the contribution of methane and nitrous oxide is not part of this series, so the sum falls short of the full warming observed. The estimate is model-based, carrying the uncertainty of climate sensitivity itself.

Environment Population below five meters above sea levelWhat share of the population lives less than five meters above sea level.
Emissions CO2 emissionsAnnual carbon dioxide emissions from burning fuel and producing cement.
Emissions CO2 emissions per capitaHow many tonnes of carbon dioxide each resident of a country accounts for in a year.
