About the indicator

GDP converted at purchasing power parity into international dollars: one international dollar buys as much inside the country as one US dollar buys in the United States. The conversion removes the distortion from exchange rates and price levels, which is why developing economies look larger at PPP than they do in nominal terms.

Important: PPP conversion factors are estimated in the rounds of the International Comparison Program (ICP) and are revised retrospectively from time to time.
