About the indicator

The share of the population aged 15–49 living with HIV, as estimated by UNAIDS. The age range is chosen as the period of greatest sexual activity. In several countries of Southern Africa the indicator exceeds 15%, which makes HIV a key factor limiting life expectancy in the region.
