About the indicator

The ratio of people younger than 15 and older than 64 to the population aged 15–64, per 100 people. It shows how many dependents there are for every 100 people of working age. The minimum of the ratio is the so-called demographic window, when children have already grown up but the population has not yet aged; it was in that period that the economic surges of East Asia took place.
