It is the third of the FAO indexes alongside the food and the livestock ones, and it differs from the food index in counting non-food crops: coffee, tea, tobacco, cotton, rubber. That is why the two indexes diverge noticeably in countries with large exports of industrial crops.
Important: It includes non-food crops, unlike the food production index. The aggregate for country groups is weighted by agricultural value added, not by population.
