The share of arable land in land area: land under annual crops, temporary meadows, kitchen gardens and land lying fallow for less than five years. It excludes permanent crops and permanent pasture, so the indicator reflects more precisely the resource available for growing grain and other field crops.

Important: The aggregate for country groups is weighted by land area.
