The task
The distributor was looking for new wholesale clients — online stores selling sporting goods. Not a "top 50" sample, but the most complete list of stores possible, with contact details, so the sales team could work it directly.
What we did and what data we collected
We searched for stores from several angles at once: by keywords in search results, through topical catalogs, and by technology fingerprints (what platform the store runs on, which payment and cart modules it uses). For every site found we collected contact details — email addresses, phone numbers and company registration details — and enriched the profile: city, assortment niche, size.
Challenges and how we solved them
The first challenge was completeness. Any single discovery method misses something, so we combined SERPs, catalogs and technology search — coverage came out noticeably wider than a typical single-source collection.
The second was contact quality. Websites are full of generic inboxes and junk numbers. We validated contacts and removed duplicates so the database kept only working data.
The third was false positives: marketplaces, articles and aggregators leak into search results. We filtered them out, keeping exactly the standalone stores of the right niche.
The result
The client received a structured database of niche online stores with verified contacts and segmentation — a foundation for cold outreach without manual web research.
